How not to suck at Consulting - The card game
Written by Maximilian Dietz and Tristan Poetzsch
Improving your performance as a consultant is a task that you don't have to tackle alone. As everyone in your team is constantly trying to improve their performance, why not do it together? This is why Max and I pulled together and have written up a card game to do exactly that. You can find it to download here on the right side, alongside the link to our book "How not to suck at consulting".
How to play:
1. Find a timeslot that you and your team can spare 5 minutes each week - best is monday morning or whenever you all meet the first time at the client site.
2. In that timeslot, everyone picks a team member that they want to give feedback to this week.
3. Everyone draws a card at random. The card tells you a consulting-relevant aspect that you should observe in your chosen person this week. Don't spoil what aspect you are observing yet!
4. At the end of the week, collect your observations and then give a short and concise feedback to your team partner based on your card.
5. Mix the card back.
That simple. You can of course adapt the rules to your liking, but this is our proposed mode of play.
